C-Brace: Computer-controlled leg orthosis From Ottobock (2024)

Flexibility in everyday life - function

The C-Brace is a computer-controlled orthosis that can help you bend your leg under load. This makes everyday activities such as sitting down, walking on slopes and even climbing stairs possible again. With the C-Brace, you can regain your independence and confidence and live your life without fear of falling. We will show you how the C-Brace works and what it can do for you. Let us advise you in detail about the possibilities. You are not alone with the C-Brace! The C-Brace is a computer-controlled orthosis that can help you bend your leg under load. This makes everyday activities such as sitting down, walking on slopes and even climbing stairs possible again.

The C-Brace® consists of a thigh, lower leg and foot part, which are all individually manufactured. An ankle joint (unilateral or bilateral fitting) or an individual spring element connects the foot part to the lower leg part.

The C-Brace® leg orthosis from OttoBock is a computer-controlled orthosis that offers the user unprecedented freedom of movement. The new sensor technology makes the entire movement process even more dynamic and sensitive, allowing the user to make adjustments to their joint via smartphone app. Theapp also lets you switch between different modes, such as bike mode, to further customize the experience.

Motor fine tuning

Adjustment of a physiological gait pattern in the stance and swing phase.

The C-Brace® consists of individually fabricated femoral, tibial and foot components connected by an ankle joint (unilateral or bilateral fitting) or an individual spring element.

With the C-Brace® joint, you can optimize your gait and the performance of different hurdles in everyday life.

C-Brace® thus recognizes which phase of walking the user is in. It can regulate the hydraulic resistances and control the flexion and extension of the knee.

Advantages

  • Can also be worn under clothing
  • Good to wear due to the lightweight design
  • Equipped with a new sensor technology
  • Dynamic and sensitive motion sequence
  • Simple supply process
  • Settings can also be made by the user via app
  • More natural motion sequences
  • Controlled walking even on uneven ground
  • Easier walking on slopes
  • Walking down stairs in alternating steps
  • Sitting down in a controlled, smooth movement
  • Walking requires less physical strength
  • Fewer compensatory movements required, resulting in better posture and less consequential damage
  • Movable ankle joint enables more natural treading and rolling
  • The view can be directed forward
  • Unobtrusive to wear, even under clothing - Powerful battery lasts all day when charged
  • Indicator tone signals too low charge level - automatic safety mode is activated
  • Second mode available for e.g. cycling - modes adjustable via smartphone app

Freedom of movement

Walking slowly and quickly, walking on slopes or uneven terrain, avoiding tripping situations, walking down stairs in alternating steps, or bending the leg under load.

Extremely inconspicuous

The new C-Brace® is small so that it can be worn inconspicuously, even under clothing. It is lightweight so that the user requires less force when walking.

Security

C-Brace® reacts in real time, which provides safety, even in possible tripping situations: The user can step and sit with the knee bent, walk on uneven terrain and on slopes.

App control

Users can conveniently control their C-Brace® using the co*ckpit App, e.g. when switching to cycling mode.

Training

Before you can go it alone, there is a three-step plan:

  • Training without orthosis
  • Training with orthosis
  • Individual gait training with the orthosis

The therapy exercises, which are performed without an orthosis, are mainly aimed at improving mobility and muscle strength.

  • Bending under load
  • Sit down
  • Stair climbing
  • Ramps

The benefits of training:

  • Individual operating modes adjustable by orthopedic technician
  • A natural posture is worked out in therapy and can thereby reduce one-sided physical overload and resulting damage
  • Reduced effort compared to locked orthoses
  • Increased sense of security and newly experienced mobility increase quality of life
  • Strengthening of previously little used muscles
  • Reduction of muscle atrophies
  • Contractures and immobilization-related joint damage can be avoided
  • Cardiovascular performance is maintained for everyday activities

How does the C-Brace work?

The abbreviation SSCO® stands for Stance and Swing Phase Control Orthosis and means that both the swing and stance phases of walking are controlled by the orthosis. SSCO® is the solution for people with paralysis symptoms.

The C-Brace® is a revolutionary new orthotic device that can help you regain your mobility and independence. The C-Brace® uses advanced sensor technology to provide real-time feedback and support to help you move freely and confidently. Whether you walk, run or ride a bike, the C-Brace® can help you stay active and mobile. With the C-Brace®, you can experience many new ways to move! For example, when you swing your leg forward, the cushioning decreases, and when you stand, it increases so that you can assume a natural, slightly bent posture with your leg.
