Does Burrtec offer senior discounts? ›

Discounted Service

Per the City's agreement with Burrtec, Duarte residents ages 62 and older are eligible for reduced costs on refuse disposal services for their 40-gallon black bins. Qualified residents can fill out the application below and submit it to Burrtec staff for review.

Receiving Senior Discounts

Some businesses start offering discounts to customers when they reach age 55, but others have different qualifying ages such as 62 or 65. If you look for deals for seniors, you can find them at certain retailers, restaurants and grocery stores.

There should be no fixed, maximum amount or cap which will limit the discount below the rate of 20%. The 20% discount shall be given to goods purchased by Senior Citizens based on the selling price exclusive of VAT.

Commercial Service - When a holiday falls on a weekday, service will be delayed by one day. Please reference your service area for possible exceptions. Starting July 1, 2023, Burrtec Waste Industries will become the new franchised, residential solid waste hauler for the City of Santa Clarita, replacing Waste Management. Burrtec was awarded the exclusive residential and commercial waste services contract after a competitive bid process in 2022.

In February 2022, Waste Management CEO Jim Fish announced that the company would officially shorten its trade name to "WM" as part of a rebranding to emphasize its growing focus on sustainability and environmental services, including compressed natural gas and landfill gas utilization.

For removal of bulky item(s) for disposal, please contact the public waste collector (PWC) serving your estate. The removal of bulky items will be at a separate fee. LASAN will pick up items too large for a normal trash bin free of charge. These include items like beds, couches, and fridges. If you find these items abandoned on the street, please report it, and LASAN will pick them up for free too.
