Okay.
Hi, everyone. I am Brooke Shields.
And this is my daughter,
Rowan Henchy. Hello, everyone.
And we are so excited to be here, and to welcome you
to the 2024 Glamour Women of the Year Awards.
Guess what?
We are here live on the red carpet,
outside of the Paradise Club in the heart of Times Square
and tonight our amazing honorees will be joining us,
along with some pretty fabulous VIPs.
That's right, mom. Thank you.
We have got fans watching on the Jumbotron,
on YouTube, all over social media
and all my friends at college.
Hi, guys. I hope dinner was good.
Hi, girls.
Olympian Suni Lee will be here,
and we will hear from Sydney Sweeney, Billie Eilish,
and Finneas will be at the show tonight.
Mom, last year you were actually honored
as the Glamour Woman of the Year,
and you did mention me in your speech, thank you,
so let's take a look.
Thank her for reminding my children,
my daughters, that I might actually be
a little cool and badass,
and it's because of this award
that they're sort of coming around to that.
[laughs] Well, it's really hard to call you cool
when you looked like the next host of Toddlers In Tiaras.
Yeah. Oh, okay. All right.
Well, you know what? Thanks for the shade.
I am very proud of you and your sister.
You're both in college now, and right now I can't believe
that we're co-hosting a red carpet together.
It seems like it's the only way I'm getting to see you.
And we are not the only mother-daughters
here on the carpet tonight.
Glamour is honoring the moms
of some of the most talented people in the world tonight
and their grateful kids, including Selena Gomez,
Billie Eilish and Finneas, and Kelly Rowland,
are gonna be here to cheer them on.
But joining us right now,
the woman who made it all possible.
The Editor In Chief of Glamour, and our very good friend,
Samantha Barry is here.
Oh my god.
Sam, hi. Hi, Sam.
You look gorgeous.
You look so good. You look so good.
Oh, you look stunning. Oh, thanks for having me.
So, this is so amazing. We're so happy to be here.
And in addition to the Women of the Year,
we're also celebrating 85 years of Glamour tonight.
Talk about that.
Look, it's been 85 years that Glamour's been around.
Since 1939, we have been telling women's stories
and honoring them in the most special way.
We have a book, this is a plug, it's out on October 14th,
so get to Amazon, pre-order it.
It is the best present you can imagine.
It's gonna be great.
So, Glamour: An Extraordinary History.
It is very, very good.
And that vibe continues
with the 2024 Glamour Women of the Year.
Tell us about it, Sam.
Oh my god.
We have the most amazing group of honorees.
They're athletes and innovators, they're activists,
so they've just been doing amazing things.
You'll see there's three sportswomen on this group,
and Olympic year, that made sense for us.
There is a group of supermoms
that are raising the next generation.
You have just people fighting for a lot of things.
Entertaining us.
Sydney Sweeney's entertained us a lot this year.
So it's just the most amazing group of women.
And you're talking about these amazing honorees.
I just am wondering, did you get to spend time
with any of them? Yes.
Tell us. Please, tell us. Oh, it's my joy.
My joy of the year is actually going to the cover shoot.
So, for example with the moms
we brought them together in LA during the summer.
It was kind of a magic moment,
because a lot of them hadn't met each other before,
and you can count on one hand the amount of women
that have raised these kind of famous people.
So that was really special.
Post-Olympics, we had Suni come,
and we brought a lot of young gymnasts with her,
and we didn't tell them who we were shooting,
so it was a surprise for them.
It was in Chelsea Piers, not too far away from here,
in Times Square, and they got so excited
when Suni, the Olympian, walked in the room
and they got to shoot with them, so it was really special.
[Brooke] It seemed like every photo shoot you had
was like a real party, so what can we expect different
from the event this year?
It's just that word,
it's a party. [Brooke laughing]
It's a party.
It's actually a bit different, right?
We got performances from Kelsea Ballerini, we have...
It's just this really interactive moment.
The honorees are going to be honored
in a way that we have never done before,
with Freestyle Love Supreme.
It's going to be very, very special.
We'll be sharing everything on Glamour's social,
so if you can't be in the room,
like the 100-plus people who are here,
just go to Glamour and you'll be able to see all the fun.
[Brooke] Absolutely. Sam, this is just amazing.
It's so good to see you again. I love you always.
Have so much fun tonight, and we will see you inside.
See you inside for some Champers.
And next, we have Ubah
from The Real Housewives of New York.
So, this is beyond excited to introduce her here.
[Brooke] And she hosted the show last year.
[Rowan] Yeah, yeah. She was in our spot.
So we have lots of questions, and we need a lot of advice.
[Brooke] Absolutely. Because look at us.
We need the advice from them
because this is a first for us
and Ubah did such a beautiful job,
they both did such a beautiful job,
and we have her right here.
[Rowan] I feel guilty holding this. Hi, Ubah.
[Rowan] You look so beautiful. You look stunning.
Hold my mic.
Hi, lovely to actually meet you. I know very well.
Hi, everyone. [sighs]
You did such a beautiful job last year.
Do you have any advice for us?
Because this is our first time doing this.
Of course.
The fact there is a mother and daughter duo,
and the gold and the silver,
you guys don't need no advice.
I've been watching.
Well, and you are right now fitting perfectly in
and what's been so amazing is the energy
that's been on the carpet, and you had that energy.
I remember when you first asked me questions
I was like, These stunning, stunning women.
Did you enjoy yourself, being on that side of-
Oh my god. It was so nerveracking.
Because we'll just not interview anybody,
we will interview people like you, like Brooke Shields,
and so it was very nerveracking, but again,
everyone is so glamour and grace, so it was easy.
And who are you really excited to see tonight
and cheer on tonight?
I mean, every single one on the list.
I'm looking forward to hear their speech,
to find out why they're nominated,
but there's a mother, a mother and daughter duo,
that she's a lawyer, she won.
Did you see that? Yes, yes.
I just saw her and I was like, Oh my god,
I just watched you, and my eyes, I started crying.
[Rowan] I know. Well, we are so excited,
and we're gonna see you in there,
and we'll have a little toast,
and you can tell us how we did.
It's amazing meeting you. Perfect.
And you are stunning.
Everyone's heads turned when you walked in,
and they were like, You have to go,
I was like, No I don't. Unbelievable.
Mwah. [lips smacking] I'm watching.
So, right now, however,
we are joined by a gold medal-winning Olympian,
and she is the one and only, the incredible,
Suni Lee, so please everybody,
put your hands together for the wonderful,
beautiful Suni Lee.
Congratulations.
Oh my goodness. Oh my gosh.
This is so wonderful. I'm gonna hold it for you.
Hold your award? Oh, okay, okay, okay.
I can hold it. Sorry, sorry.
We are so happy to have you here.
Thank you. I'm so happy to be here.
I just want to say, Suni, I follow your TikToks.
I watch your Get Readies with Me.
I take make-up advice. I take fashion advice.
I take flexibility advice from you as much as I can.
That's not the path I want to go down anymore,
but it was for a little bit.
And you really are the comeback kid, you know?
From fighting kidney disease and inner doubt
to the medal again this year at the Olympics in Paris.
Tell me, and tell us,
how did it feel to be there, and what's next for you?
It felt amazing, just knowing
that I wasn't even supposed to be there,
and doing everything that I could to get there
was probably the biggest accomplishment of all.
I mean, the medals are amazing,
but just making it there and doing the thing that I could
was probably the best feeling, but yeah,
facing all the challenges
and getting to where I am right now, I'm so happy.
And you're a real fighter and a real inspiration.
Yeah.
And I know family means a lot to you,
but is there anyone that you would like to thank
in this moment to getting you where you are today?
I would have to say obviously my whole family,
but my doctor and my managers, they've been my rocks.
And my sister. I probably wouldn't be here without them.
Because they've always supported me,
and just been here along the journey.
I just wanna say thank you so much
for being here tonight.
It's such an honor to be here in your presence,
and I hope to see you inside,
and have an amazing rest of your night.
We will be cheering you on from inside,
and we'll see you later.
I will always be cheering you on,
[Brooke] no matter where you are. Always, always.
Especially on a mat or a beam or a bar,
but especially here tonight.
Okay, we have a very, very special other guest
that is coming in, an honoree,
and we are so excited because I now know her
a little more personally.
We worked on a campaign together.
But please, the unbelievable Donna Kelce.
[people cheering] Welcome.
And congratulations.
Donna, come over here. Come over here.
Meet my baby. [Rowan laughing]
Yeah, this is my baby girl.
This is Rowan. Yeah, that's me.
Oh, hi. Nice to meet you. It's great to meet you.
You can hold the trophy.
Okay. I know, it's kind of large.
Go ahead. Ask her.
I'm wondering, how can moms hold space for themselves
while also giving so much energy
and so much attention to their kids?
It's a full-time job. She loves me, but she complains.
So I'm curious, how do you do it?
I tell you, there's a lot of people,
there's a lot of individuals in your community,
neighborhoods, families, whatever,
that you depend on,
especially when you have to go on work duty
and go on the road.
But it's really helpful
to really have a base and a support team,
especially when you're working,
because it's definitely difficult.
And it does take a village.
We always say that, but it really does take a village,
and to know that people that you and the other women,
the other strong women, that you can count on,
and I've heard you talk about your women friends
and the other moms in your life.
Yeah, I have so many friends
that I've kept in contact with, a lot of them over 50.
They're fabulous, and I just wanted to say
thank you to all those individuals
that had to put up with my kids,
when I wasn't around,
but also I had a fantastic husband at the time
that helped out, and we were a team,
and we did this together, so it worked out well.
Well, we are so...
What we have learned from you,
I wish I'd met you a little bit earlier in my life,
because having a baby girl now,
and we recently worked on a campaign for,
yes, over-50s, shingles,
and it was really wonderful getting to talk with you,
and I was happy when I heard
that you were getting this award tonight.
It's really an honor.
It's amazing to be in the same room
with so many iconic women,
just knowing that I just gave birth to two celebrities
but I really am not one myself.
So, it's kind of fun though. It's very crazy.
But, you know, the idea of celebrity
is so odd in this day and age.
You know what?
I think all moms are icons and celebrities,
because it's not easy being a mom and encouraging them
and to strive,
so you set the bar pretty high for all of us,
so thank you.
I appreciate that, Brooke. You too, Rowan.
Thank you you being here tonight. It's great to meet you.
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Congratulations. See you inside there.
See you inside. Okay.
That was awesome. All right.
So, here it is. Meet Glamour's Your Mom of the Year.
Lynda Limon and her daughter Dupree Walker
who nominated her for this very, very award.
This is so exciting. Hi, guys.
Come over here, you beautiful women, you.
[Rowan] Hi. Look at the gold.
All right. All right.
Hi, mom. Hello.
Hi. Welcome to Times Square.
This is so amazing to meet you both.
Oh, thank you. Thank you.
This is such an honor, so congratulations.
Dupree, what did you nominate your mom for this award?
Why? [laughs]
I mean, my mom is the most important person in my life.
I love her. Everything that I am is because of her.
And I wouldn't be here, or doing the things
that I'm doing with my life if it weren't for my mom.
And she just deserved this,
so it felt like the only thing to do. [laughs]
I'm gonna give you her phone number later,
so you can just talk to her a little bit.
Now, Lynda, you're so many things,
and I always start with mom, but you're a family lawyer,
you yourself are an endurance athlete,
which I also think most moms are in general,
and you are a mother of two girls.
I also have two girls.
So, what would you say the secret of your success,
but keeping moving forward?
One step at a time, and always embrace every single moment
because every single moment is so special,
even the hard ones.
And the hard ones sometimes make the easier ones
just that much easier,
because we understand. Absolutely.
Well, you have a beautiful daughter.
I look forward to meeting your other.
Well, I don't know, we were gonna talk about that later,
but we are so excited, so just like you taught us,
enjoy every minute.
Congratulations.
I met one daughter, we can't wait to meet the next one,
and we'll see you in there.
She'll be at the after-party.
[Rowan] Okay. We will, too.
We'll be right there with you, believe me.
Thank you so much.
Congratulations. Perfect.
It's so great meeting you, and a mother-daughter bond
is really something special,
so I'm glad that we got to share this with you tonight.
You can't replace it, can you?
No you can't. And we'll see you inside.
And we'll talk dirt. Yes.
We'll talk dirt. That's amazing.
All right, so now, we are joined by Bethenny Frankel,
entrepreneur and TV star.
Also pretty amazing mom.
Mom, Bethany, come over here. So, your daughter...
Hi. You look so beautiful. [lips smacking]
Hi. Have we ever met? It's so great to meet you.
I don't think so, but there's a first for everything.
You look Dakota Johnson to me.
Oh. Don't you see it?
I like that.
I'm never gonna hear the end of that, but okay.
Thank you.
And I know your dad. Yeah. Yeah.
Because I met your parents together.
Yes. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Dakota Johnson.
So, your daughter, Bryn, she just started high school.
I'm curious how that's going.
It's going well. Yeah?
She loves it. I love it.
She's really happy, and it's about us
telling them how to navigate it,
because it does require a little bit of that.
I think everything requires a lot more
of what we don't even realize,
but we can learn a lot from you.
You're a powerful businesswoman.
So, what would your advice to your daughter,
or to other young women,
to really keep thriving and keeping moving forward,
in business and life?
I think positive reinforcement
about what they're passionate about,
nurturing what they're passionate about.
I said to an adviser at her school recently,
I would like her to stretch herself.
There should be discomfort, but not pain,
like a yoga pose.
But don't push yourself too hard.
And also, sometimes you have to be
your own support system if you are met
with anything less than the confidence that you deserve
and I always try to tell them that.
You know? Don't always look for somebody else to tell you.
Believe it in yourself first. It's very hard at that age.
Because even us, we get influenced by trends,
and what other people are doing.
We want what other people have,
and so that's uniquely what they're doing,
and so that's a hard thing to have.
Well, we follow you for trends, so when we get in there,
I need you to keep telling- I ate your snacks.
Your advice, your snacks. I love your snacks.
Thank you. All of them.
I like the cream cheese, and you put the cream cheese
on the... The caviar.
The caviar, and then, yes. Everything.
That's perfect. [Rowan laughing]
So, I'm gonna take some notes from you inside,
and you can give me more snacks. [laughs]
Me too. Great to meet you.
Congratulations to your daughter.
Right now, we have the creator and the star
of Survival of the Thickest, Michelle Buteau.
We are so excited for Season 2, are we not?
[Rowan] Hello. Season 2.
Who gets a Season 2 anymore? It's very exciting.
It's gonna be fun. Oh my god.
You ladies look amazing.
I was here.
You hosted the Glamour Women of the Year Award last year.
What can we expect tonight? Oh. Oh my goodness.
Things to go right, things to go wrong.
People have fun.
Very expensive wedges.
And a lot of supports, and celebration.
And I don't think we celebrate each other enough.
I think we get caught up in the day-to-day
of what I'm not doing and what needs to be done
so it's so nice that we could dress up, come out,
celebrate each other and have our own holiday.
So yeah, it's great.
[Brooke] And feel celebrated all ourselves as well
for all being a part of a wonderful, wonderful community.
Yes. It is a wonderful community.
It is. Yeah.
And I was so happy that I knew you were gonna be here
again this year, so we're gonna see you inside
and we'll gossip a little bit more.
I can't wait. I'm gonna start the electrical slide,
because that's who I am,
but I can't drop anything in this dress.
I can't bend over. [Brooke laughing]
Great to meet you. We'll see you in there.
[Michelle] Great. Okay.
Switching gears just a little bit.
One of the biggest stories in sports this year
was the popularity of the WNBA, and we love to see it.
Joining us tonight from the New York Liberty,
is CEO Keia Clarke.
Keia Clarke, get in here. You are amazing.
We're so happy to have you here today.
So happy to be here. Thank you.
And you look absolutely beautiful.
And it has been an incredible season for the Liberty.
A number one record. You've got stars on the court.
Celebrities outside.
What made this season such an incredible success?
You said it.
It's been a historic, historic year for the entire WNBA,
but we're super-proud here in New York.
The team has been playing exceptionally well.
The crowds are showing up. It's a party in Brooklyn.
One of the best summer parties ever.
But the entertainment value,
just high-quality, world-class basketball,
and chasing the championship,
that's really what's made it such a successful year for us.
Well, talk about high class.
The Liberty made the WNBA finals, shall we say it again?
Finals. So, what would a championship mean for New York?
Championship would mean everything.
Personally, I've been with the team for almost 15 years,
but for the players, blood, sweat and tears.
Unfinished business.
We were in the finals last season.
To return again and have a chance
to bring it home for New York,
it would mean everything,
and we'd be the first basketball team
to win in New York in 50 years,
so we hope that this team is ready to do it.
I know they're ready to get started
this Thursday night at 8:00 PM, game one of the finals.
We can't wait.
I'm a native New Yorker through and through,
so I am right there with you.
Thank you so much. Now... And it's so amazing.
I'm just a little bit distracted
because I know that you have brought
an absolute fabulous guest with you.
So, would you mind introducing who is beside you?
I'm happy to introduce none other
than Ellie the Elephant, our team mascot.
Hello, Ellie.
Oh, hello, Ellie. Hi, Ellie.
Oh my gosh.
Okay, I thought that I really turned it out tonight
but I'm sorry, you win.
You win head to toe.
Ellie, every single celebrity
wants to take a selfie with you.
I hope you know that.
On the sidelines, everyone's talking about you.
And I understand you are here to serve looks,
so first of all, you go, girl,
and Ellie slays the house down, especially in boots.
We love your bag. We absolutely love your bag.
So Ellie, thank you for being here with us tonight.
Good luck in the finals, and take a night off,
go enjoy the refreshments, talk to people,
show your looks, because that's what you do best.
And we will be cheering you on. Thank you, thank you.
We really appreciate you. Thank you.
Great meeting you, Ellie. Fantastic meeting you.
I may need to borrow those pearls.
Yeah. The pearl and the bag.
[Brooke laughing] I mean, that's crazy.
Oh, my eyelashes. That is amazing.
Oh, hello. Okay. Yeah. And the hair.
Oh, yes.
Oh, wow.
Oh, a collab. That's amazing.
Oh, that's great. So, we'll see you inside.
See you inside.
Cocktails.
Cocktails, darling. We'll meet you there.
We'll meet you in there.
Now, in just a moment, we will hear
from Glamour Woman of the Year,
the one and only Sydney Sweeney.
Sydney, I am obsessed with you, and your precious dog, Tank,
so we are sending you both a huge congratulations.
Sydney is such a talented actress and producer.
I loved her in Anyone But You and of course Euphoria,
which I watched with my mother.
[murmurs deliberately indistinctly]
It was fantastic.
[Rowan laughing] Yes.
We are so happy, and I'm sure Tank is very happy too.
But right now, we've got
the most-decorated track and field athlete in history.
She is a long-time advocate for the wellbeing of athletes,
and she's fighting for better outcomes for Black mothers.
Everyone, please give a big kiss to...
It's Allyson Felix. Hello. Hi, Allyson.
Congratulations. You look beautiful.
Thank you so much. This is such an honor.
Well, it's an honor to be talking to you,
and all the amazing work that you do,
and this year has been extraordinary for you,
because you received a $20 million grant
from Melinda French Gates
to fund your important work
that's making the difference, so it's just incredible.
Can you just tell us why
protecting Black maternal health
means so much to you personally,
and also, how can we all help?
Yeah.
I mean, my eyes were opened to this whole new world
when I was having my daughter.
I had a very traumatic birth experience with her.
And I didn't realize.
I had severe pre-eclampsia, and I didn't realize
what a crisis it is in America for Black women giving birth
and so as soon as I learned,
I wanted to come and help as much as I could,
and I knew people were doing important work
in this space for so long,
and so I'm so excited that Melinda French Gates
has really supported this work,
and that we can continue to try to make things better.
And everyone, they can contact
their Congressional representatives,
express support for the Momnibus Act,
because we have to change this.
And it's a very, very important time right now.
And thank you so much for being here
and sharing your story.
Is there anyone special that you would like to thank
for getting you to this moment?
Oh, my own mother, you know? [laughs]
She was always my role model,
and just has made so many sacrifices
so that I could be here.
All the women who have just paved the way,
and I'm just so grateful to follow in those footsteps.
Well, you've paving the way as well.
Thank you so much. Enjoy tonight.
We'll see you in there.
Thank you, and huge congratulations.
Okay.
So, there is a very exciting moment coming up,
and we are so excited because we are able to say this.
I never thought I would say Billie Eilish.
I never thought I would say Finneas.
I never thought I'd say Maggie Baird.
I never thought I would say that.
But in about three seconds- Three.
Three. Let's make it two.
Let's make it one. One.
Okay, everybody.
We are going to introduce you all
to Billie Eilish, Finneas
and their gorgeous mother, Maggie Baird.
And look at their gorgeous mom. Maggie.
Maggie Baird. Hello.
Congratulations. Congratulations.
Congratulations. This is my baby girl.
It's lovely to meet you. I'm Rowan.
Nice to meet you. Sweaty hand but that's okay.
That's okay. Warm heart.
Hello.
This is my baby, and here he is.
Hello. How's it going? Great to meet you guys.
Thanks for being here to support your gorgeous mother.
Thank you for being here to do this.
So nice of you.
Maggie, congratulations, again.
Can you talk about the way that your work
as a climate justice activist
connects to your children and your kids and your life?
Well, I basically spent their whole lives
talking about it to
probably the lot of eye rolls,
but really a lot of support too and appreciation,
and then the amazing thing is,
because of them, I get to talk about it even more now
and I get to influence a lot more people
and because they're doing so much in this space
and helping us move the music industry
to a more sustainable model
and just helping feed so many people
and support really the things that I love the most,
which is really amazing.
Oh, and those are your babies, you know?
And I think that we're such...
I'm in awe of you as a mom,
you're talking about eye rolling,
I get that all the time from my baby girl.
She said Your eyes are gonna get stuck.
Yeah. I know that's impossible.
By the way, if I had the color eyes that you all have,
I would be rolling and rolling and rolling.
Oh my god.
So, we want to be clear, this is one of the few times
on the red carpet that you guys are not getting an award.
Instead, Glamour is honoring your mom,
and artist and activist. [Billie whooping]
So cool.
Maggie, what to you,
I know to me, but what to you,
makes her a Woman of the Year?
To me? Yes.
Oh my god. It's so obvious.
My mom is the smartest person in the world.
She knows so much about everything,
and I feel like every time she speaks about
the climate crisis and people and inequity,
she speaks like she's been studying it
for her entire life, and really
she's such a sponge
with information, and she just soaks it all up
and instead of soaking it all up
and then sitting in it,
she wants to share it
and help people, and save the world.
And help educate people. And help educate people.
Because the real thing is,
there's just not a lot of...
Not a lot of people know about a lot of this stuff,
and so it's really important to just share the information,
and she's just the best.
I don't know.
And a lot of people, you say they don't know,
but they also feel like, Oh, it's helpless.
They can't do anything about it,
and they can't make a difference,
and that type of a message is always something
that you've really gotten away from,
and said, It all can make a difference.
And as a mom, I have to know,
what do you think that your mom did for you
that helped you become the mom and the person
that you are today?
My mom? Your mom first of all.
Oh.
Just one little thing about your mom.
And you can have my mic in a second, Finneas.
No problem.
Well, I lost my mom in my twenties, sadly,
but my mom...
Oh, gosh.
Oh, get ready. It's gonna be a whole night of this.
I'm sorry.
My mom was amazing.
Very loving and incredibly capable human being,
who had so many talents and skills
and really I think in her era
did not get celebrated for those very much.
My mother was an incredible singer.
Billie has her gift, Finneas has her gift.
And yeah, she was a woman of the '50s and '60s.
And you can feel the emotions,
and they'll always be so raw.
Finneas, tell me what this means to you, for your mom?
To get this.
I think our mom has been the same wonderful person
our whole lives, and most of our lives
were spent privately thinking,
Oh, this is such an amazing person,
and having friends, and people my own age,
and people our mom's age, saying,
Your mom's a really special,
incredibly important person
in our local, small world,
and I think as our community has grown, so to speak,
as we've gotten a wider and wider audience and platform,
I think, allowing our mom to educate more people
and help more people has been
such an amazing, important thing.
The thing I always think about is,
COVID begins.
We have, whatever. Two weeks to flatten the curve.
And I remember calling my mom on the third day,
and my mom immediately was like,
Well, all these restaurants are about to close,
and all these hospital workers won't be able to eat,
so let's start this donation platform
where people can donate money to restaurants.
The restaurants can cook all this food,
and the food can get brought to
emergency workers.
Immediately, that was the first thing she thought about.
She didn't think, Oh, I can't wait to binge this TV show,
which was the first thing I thought, you know?
Oh, look at all these hours I have,
to watch television.
She was immediately thinking about
how she could help other people,
and that's just a testament of the way
she's always been.
And we can all learn so much from your mom
and from the message
and from never giving up on that message,
and making sure that people keep hearing it, you know?
And keep beginning with love.
[Rowan] Thank you all for being here tonight
and talking to us.
Really, it's so inspiring to see
you guys have a relationship with your mother,
just like I have one with mine,
and so I just want to thank you both
for being here on your night off.
Thanks, guys.
Thanks for having us.
And it's going to be emotional, so just get ready,
but it's okay, we've got tissues.
And congratulations.
Thank you for speaking with us.
Thanks for having us. Thank you so much.
See you guys in there. Thank you, guys.
We will see you in there. Oh, yeah.
Reproductive justice advocates
Kaitlyn Joshua and Hadley Duvall are here now.
Kaitlyn and Hadley bravely shared their stories
and got the whole world
to think about reproductive healthcare in a new way.
And for that, they are here,
and they are being honored as Women of the Year.
So now, let's welcome both-
Both of these amazing honorees tonight.
Kaitlyn and Hadley.
Kaitlyn, Hadley. Over the wire.
We want you to jump over this wire,
and we want you to come back over here
and be with us, because we think you're fabulous.
Hi, guys. [laughs] Hi, there.
Congratulations. Hello.
[Rowan] We're so happy. Congratulations.
[Brooke] Kaitlyn, why was it so important to you
to share your individual story?
And what do you tell others who might wanna do the same?
For me, it was extremely important
for me to tell my story, because I know
there's thousands of women out there
that are not able to share, advocate for themselves.
And especially a lot of women that look like me.
And I know that that is a disadvantaged community,
and it was on me to speak out and tell my story
in hopes that others don't have to experience
the same thing.
And sharing that message allows other people
to really share their own message.
And Hadley, I've been watching you speak out.
You've had an amazing, wild, rollercoaster of the year.
From speaking at the DNC
to hanging out with Oprah,
getting a standing ovation from Madam Vice President,
do you, if possible, have a highlight?
Honestly, probably just every little girl
being able to watch from home,
no matter where they are in the country,
and see that someone's fighting for them,
there is hope for them,
and even if you've been through something terrible
and you've checked some boxes
before you've even had the chance to grow up,
you have control over your future
and that's really just the message
that I want to spread to so many people.
And to rely on the community, and your community,
and continuing to have these conversations.
We thank you so much for sharing those stories
and for being brave,
and we're gonna have to hang out
when we get in there, okay?
Congratulations. Thank you.
[Brooke] And we will see you in there.
Thank you. Thank you.
Thanks for being here, and for speaking.
I just want to say thank you now more than ever.
It means a lot, especially to people like me
and my generation, so I really appreciate
everything you're doing.
Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you.
Okay. All right, everybody.
If I had a drum roll, I would drum roll right now.
So I'm just gonna [imitates drum roll].
Please everyone, welcome Glamour Woman of the Year,
Pamela Anderson. [Brooke whooping]
[Rowan whooping]
Hi. Hi.
Oh my god. You guys are gorgeous.
Hi. Rowan.
Great to meet you. This is my baby girl.
Oh my goodness. They grow up so fast.
I know. They do that.
I don't know why they do that.
This has been, why don't we just call it as it is?
The year of Pamela.
Oh, I don't know about that, but-
But it's okay. It feels good.
It feels good.
It's been a long time.
Exciting doors are opening for me
that never opened before, so I'm making the most of it.
Well, also, listen, you did have a beautiful year
and I think it's important to take all that in.
You wrote a book, the documentary,
and then I get a little [pants]
because you got to really show your talent.
There was a director that really wanted everything from you
and you arrived and you showed up
in the movie The Last Showgirl.
I think it's so wonderful that your talent
is being heralded, because it's always been in there
and I wanna say congratulations.
Why do you think so many people are resonating
with your story in this particular time?
Well, I think authenticity and vulnerability
are rarely celebrated
in this glitz and glamour world of fashion everywhere,
so I'm just really excited to be able to bring that
to the character in The Last Showgirl,
and the character, Shelley,
and I was really happy that Glamour
actually put me on the cover of the magazine
with no make-up on,
and I just feel like this has just been my year,
to strip it all back, see what's underneath it all
and you always have to keep that little fire burning
within you, and you never know when opportunity comes.
In my case, it took a couple of decades,
but I finally got the opportunity to do this,
and I'm so excited.
People don't realize it.
They talk about overnight success, or they talk about...
It's like, no, no, no.
Let's get this straight. These are decades in the making.
And you have always been authentic,
though that has been a part of your sweetness
and all of the people that I know,
that we know in common,
have always said that about you,
and your openness and your sweetness
and your willingness to be honest
and to be thoughtful of other people.
There's so much that goes into that,
and this business can absolutely destroy you.
We both know that.
We do. But you know what?
We're not gonna let it. No. We're gonna stand tall.
And we're going to use all that to our benefit.
It's like women that turn poop into fertilizer.
[Brooke] Yes. Right?
[Brooke] Exactly.
That's us.
I love that. That's such a glamorous thing.
Poop into fertilizer.
I think we could start our own business.
Yes, we could. [laughs]
And thank you so much. It's so great to meet you.
Is there anyone special that you would like to thank
right here, right now, for getting you...
I know you have a beautiful family.
Well, thank you, guys.
But I want to thank my family.
Obviously my boys are my pride and joy,
and they've been so supportive of everything,
and I just love the love that we share.
I want to thank Gia Coppola of course
for making the bold move
and putting me in this movie, and the cast,
and to Conde Nast and Glamour
for giving me this wonderful honor,
and to be able to be here tonight.
I never would have thought that would have happened,
so it's a happy surprise.
Well, you deserve it, and it's only the beginning.
How about that? It's a new beginning.
This is the beginning of my career, I always say.
And it's exciting, and it's awesome.
And we will be here to watch the rest of it.
Cheering you. We cannot wait.
I know you guys will love it.
You'll love the movie.
Oh, oh, no, I already do love the movie.
I love the movie. Oh.
Yeah, no, I came prepared. Come on.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Really.
Well, yes. Promise, love it.
And been saying that since it happened,
so I'm happy for you.
When we go in there, we're not in front of the major camera,
let's have a little hug. Yes, yes. Love it.
Okay, all right. Okay, congratulations.
Where am I going?
We're gonna go right down there.
That way. Watch...
Hold. Okay.
And now we have four-time Grammy nominee,
Kelsea Ballerini, with us.
So I would love to give a warm welcome.
I know that was fast. Hi.
Woo, you just got thrown in. Hello.
I was going to give you the [faintly speaking].
Pleased to meet you. I'm Rowan.
Nice to see you, Rowan. I'm Kelsea.
Pleased to meet you.
You guys look [speaking foreign language].
Thank you. Well, thank you.
I think we all look pretty good together.
We're like Olympic medalists.
There's something metallic. Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, Metallica's taken unfortunately,
but we can work around that.
You're right, you're right.
Oh. Oh.
Yes, see how I did that? Yes. Yes.
All right, so there's so much to look forward to tonight.
Yeah. You are performing tonight.
How does it feel to perform in front of
all of these badass women?
Well, okay.
So, whenever they asked me to perform, I was like,
I don't even know who's being honored yet.
They kept it very tight-lipped,
but I was like, Just, yes.
Performing for women, as a woman.
I'm like, I'm just here for the girls always.
And then I started hearing who was being honored,
and who was gonna be here,
and then I got in the room for soundcheck today,
and I saw all the seats, and I was like,
Man, I am so influenced by so many of y'all,
and it just feels really wonderful to sing a song
off a record that I'm about to put out
that I made with only women,
so it feels very kismet, yeah.
Awesome. And it drops pretty soon.
I know. And you're talking about it.
Your new album, it's called Patterns.
It drops October 25th. Yes. Real soon.
Can you give us a little bit of a sneak peak
into what we're expecting?
Girl, well, honestly, just,
it is my entering into my thirties.
It is every big feeling that I've had
entering into that, good, bad and ugly,
and it has some bops and it has some cryers
and that's how I roll.
That's how we roll too. You know? That's how I roll.
Every day. It's one or the other, and rolling with it.
Absolutely. [Rowan laughing]
Well, have fun tonight.
Yeah. Thank you for being here.
It's such an honor to meet you.
Break a leg tonight, and I cannot wait to see you.
We were in the back and we heard the soundcheck.
Yeah, we were like running through-
Oh my god. We cannot wait.
It was amazing.
[faintly speaking] but thank you for saying that.
[Brooke faintly speaking] Hopefully so have we.
All right. I'll see you guys in there.
See you in there. Bye.
And now, coming up we have
actress and model-
Yes.
Yaya DaCosta. DaCosta.
She's an activist. She's a model.
She's the most-important
woman in your life. Look at this outfit.
Look at this. Okay, wait.
[Rowan] Hold on. Yeah.
[Brooke] Just a moment here. Stunning.
[Brooke] I mean, start to finish.
[Rowan] Look at this. And the back.
I love an open back.
I love an open back.
Give it up for the front, the sides, the top,
the bottom, all sides, all sides.
[laughs] Thank you. How are you ladies doing tonight?
Great. How are you?
Thank you so much for being here.
It's really exciting. How are you feeling?
Amazing. Yeah.
Amazing.
Excited to be in the room with so many beautiful,
powerful, intelligent, inspiring women.
It's just lovely.
Is there anybody in particular
that you are especially looking forward to
bumping shoulders with or hugging?
To be honest, and not to be boring,
but to to be honest,
after being quarantined,
every single opportunity I get
to be outside is exciting.
Anyone who I meet,
I know that it's an ordained encounter.
We're celebrating, we're excited to be free people
out in the world, looking fabulous,
and interacting with each other.
So, anyone is an exciting person to meet,
because you never know where those relationships end up
in the future, right?
[Brooke] And supporting one another, I think,
[Rowan] is so important. Yeah.
[Brooke] You've always been that.
Yeah. Is there anyone that you wanna thank?
Who was the most important person, woman, female,
anybody in your life, would you say?
Oh, wow. Gosh.
Well, first obviously my mom.
[sighs] Sorry for being...
I'm staying with her when I come,
because I don't live in New York anymore,
so I stay with her, and she's like,
When you come, you're just running around here and there.
We don't hang together.
So, sorry that I've been running around crazy,
but just to be able to come home
and be in a familiar setting
and get recharged so I can go out in the world
and be myself is just a blessing.
Tell your mom I understand.
The only way I get to see her
is doing the red carpet together, because she's at college.
Yes. I am.
So, tell your mom I understand.
I go to Wake Forest. Okay. Because I-
I'm a senior, so I'm taking every day very slowly,
because I don't wanna be anything above a senior. [laughs]
Get ready, girl. Okay.
I'm not ready, but I will talk later,
and I'll talk to your mom.
I'm gonna give her my number. Enjoy yourself tonight.
We will see you in there.
Thank you for being here tonight.
I'm... Mwah. [lips smacking] Thank you.
Bye.
And now, we have very impressive singer-songwriter
Ayra Starr.
[Brooke] We're so excited. Hi, Ayra.
Oh, wow. She just came in.
Look at how she walked, the shoulders back.
Oh, boy. That dress.
How are you? You look gorgeous.
You look stunning. Thank you, thank you.
So, we are here to celebrate women,
and women that have made a difference in our lives,
and who's the most important, let's say, woman,
in your life?
My mother, of course.
And I feel like everybody says that, right?
[Brooke] But it's the truth.
Okay, okay, but it's the truth. Moms are the best.
[Brooke] Everybody says that, right?
[Rowan] Yeah, everybody says that, right?
[Brooke] Thank you. Thank you.
[Ayra laughing]
Okay, so I've been around a long time,
and I think that there are certain things
I thought when I was younger
that I don't necessarily think the same today.
So, were there any assumptions
that you made as a child
about your own life
that stuck with you, either good, bad,
or assumptions other people made,
that you wanna really say, No, that's not it.
You know, growing up, I always had this childlike faith,
like I was gonna do music and all of that,
and I feel like my mom always manifested greatness
in my life, and I feel like that's something
that was always in the back of my mind.
So any assumptions that were made
by anyone around me never stuck
because I was surrounded by a lot of positivity
and strong women, so yeah.
Well, I just wanna have you on tape,
and I just wanna have it play all...
The voice and the message, it is just so inspiring.
What are the best words to live by,
that anyone has ever shared for you?
Let me see.
There's so many good things everybody has told me.
I met one of my idols the other day,
and she was just like, Have fun.
It's so simple, but we actually need to have fun.
We need to enjoy the process of life,
and it's all in the journey.
The highs, the lows, all of it.
And that's all a part of it, and you've done both,
and we're so excited to see what you do next,
and to keep listening and watching you,
and thank you. Thank you. [laughs]
Have a great time tonight,
and we'll see you in there. See you in there.
And now, a true legend.
Golden Globe and Emmy winner
Oscar nominee,
style icon, entrepreneur and entertainment mogul,
give it up for Taraji P. Henson.
Hello. Yes, congratulations. This is really amazing.
Hello.
Oh my goodness.
We are silver and gold, and we are so, so happy
to be seeing you. Yes. Congratulations.
[all smacking lips] Back to you.
Thank you so much.
So, last year you honored your friend, Mary J. Blige.
Yeah, I did.
And now you are a Woman of the Year,
so first of all, congratulations.
Thank you so much. That is so amazing.
Yeah. How do you feel tonight?
Honored, grateful, blessed.
Full of joy in a world that is trying to steal it from us.
Thank you, Glamour. Thank you.
Because I needed it in this moment right now.
Thank you for my flowers. I appreciate you.
Oh, well we appreciate you,
and we were talking earlier and we were saying,
Okay, well what's the list? and then I ran out of fingers
because you're an actor, you're an entrepreneur,
you're film, TV and a Broadway producer.
You are an author. You are a mom.
And you are a big advocate for mental healthcare.
That has always been something very important
in my life, to talk about it,
destigmatize it, and take away the shame
and create support teams.
With such a busy life though,
how do you manage to take care
of your own mental health, for you?
I pay attention to how I'm feeling,
and I have anxiety, so if the anxiety gets to be
a bit too much, then I have to stop
and have to assess it.
And I have to take care of myself,
and if I feel overwhelmed, No is okay.
Saying No is okay.
No will save your life.
I did not grow up knowing No,
and I didn't learn it until...
I'm 59, and I just learned it a while ago.
I know, me as well, because you get in the industry
and finally you get that break,
and it's like, Go, go, go, go,
because you're scared the phone's gonna stop ringing.
And you know what?
When you have faith,
you don't have to worry about that stuff.
And when you're a mom, you give so much,
and you give so much to the industry,
and your art, and I think that it's important
to lean on other people,
get help and lean on yourself.
I have an amazing circle of girlfriends.
They're my Sisters of the Yam,
that's what I like to call them,
and they check in on me.
You know? Sometimes they'll pull up.
If my Hello sounds funny on the phone,
they will knock on the door,
because they need to check on me,
look in, to see what's behind my eyes.
So it's always great to have
a great support system, especially women.
It's nothing like us, right?
No, and you need to be witnessed,
especially with mental health.
Sometimes we isolate. That is very dangerous.
We need to be able to witness each other
and allow ourselves to be witnessed,
to not go through something alone.
Absolutely, because humans need humans, period,
at the end of the day.
Absolutely. Well, we need you as a human.
And we've needed you, so thank you.
Yeah, you've been such a big inspiration for me,
for being not afraid to use my voice,
because when you tell your story,
you help not only yourself,
but so many other people, so thank you for being brave.
[Brooke] Thank you.
[Taraji laughing] We...
Oh, stop. I can't.
We're gonna have to hug for real life inside,
oh, or now. [lips smacking]
I always try to hug the downstairs side
so you get the camera. Thank you.
We'll see you in there. Thank you.
It's great meeting you, and thank you for just speaking
what you just said, as someone who's in their last year
of college, and I have amazing girlfriends
and they're watching me right now.
A support system goes a long way,
and it's good to have people there,
and it's okay to also say, Hey,
I need someone right now. Absolutely.
[Rowan] So I appreciate you speaking those words.
Thank you so much.
Congratulations. See you.
Thank you. Good luck.
Thank you. Thank you.
You have a bright future ahead of you. I'm not worried.
[Taraji and Rowan laughing]
All right.
We'll have a toast inside. Great to meet you.
Congratulations. Okay.
Right now, we're here with entrepreneur
Jordan Woods and her mom, Elizabeth Woods,
another amazing mother-daughter duo tonight,
so let's please welcome them.
Hi, guys. Come on.
Look at this. Look at your creatures.
Oh my god. We didn't do silver.
We should have done silver.
We're all perfect.
[Elizabeth faintly speaking]
Yes, it must be a mom thing.
Come over here. Come over here, mom.
Show everybody out there that you're gorgeous
on the Jumbotron.
Look at these gorgeous outfits and women,
and an unbelievable mother-daughter.
How does it feel to be out here with your daughter?
I mean, I'm proud beyond, and we're so excited
to be talking to you tonight.
[faintly speaking] This is crazy. [laughs]
We didn't call each other, though.
No, we did not.
But look at this.
[Brooke] We do match. Okay.
We've been spending a lot of time together
these past couple of days, when I'm home from school.
Where do you go to school? I go to Wake Forest.
Oh, amazing. Yeah.
I'm in my last year there.
But you guys are here, and Jordan,
this is your first time
at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards, correct?
It is my first time. Okay.
And how are you feeling?
I feel amazing.
I think it's always a beautiful thing
to be surrounded with such beautiful,
powerful, strong, amazing women.
I agree, and I'm glad that we all get to come together
in this world right now, and just be women,
because that's pretty darn cool.
And just be positive. And just be positive.
And uplift each other. It's amazing.
Yeah, uplift each other, right? Girls for girls.
No, it's amazing.
And I think that is what tonight literally embodies.
For sure. So, Jordan, I'm curious.
Obviously you have your mother with you here tonight.
But are there any other women, or anyone else in the world,
that have influenced your life
and gotten you where you are today?
You know, I feel like on a day-to-day base
I'm always influenced by any amazing woman that I meet
because there are so many beautiful people out there,
whether it's someone I see on the street
that gives me a compliment, or someone on social media.
I feel like just as long as we're giving each other flowers
I can easily be inspired by anyone out there
that's being unapologetically themself.
And my little sister also.
She's not here, but she's like my twin, and she also-
Hi, baby sister. Carries me. Hi, Jodie.
[Rowan] Hi, Jodie. Hi, Jodie.
And they look identical, which is crazy.
Wow. Yeah, that's crazy.
That's crazy, but are they different personalities
or just... Polar opposites.
Okay. Polar opposites.
Yeah.
For sure they are. And she's 17.
Oh. Oh, yeah.
Oh. Yeah.
Suddenly I saw your face. Oh. All right.
That's where it's at right now.
But she's great. She's sweet.
Is there a piece of advice
that your mother has given you
that has really resonated with you
and that you still recite in your head daily?
Yeah.
Okay, one thing she always says is people will not remember
what you did, but they'll remember how you made them feel.
And, Always keep your integrity.
And those are words I go by every day,
because I always try to uplift the people around me.
Wow, mom. Thank you.
Thank you for that. And our babies.
I think we should have a toast inside
to celebrate our babies.
I think we should, for sure, for sure.
[Rowan] [laughs] I will be there,
and I hope you will too. Yeah. Please.
Yes. I would love that.
Yes.
Congratulations on everything.
[faintly speaking] for so many years.
We're still 25, but you've uplifted people for a long time
and kudos to you. Well, thank you.
And she's magnificent. Thank you.
And she is magnificent.
We have some pretty cool mamas,
I think you can agree with me on that.
So, thank you both for being here tonight.
Thank you so much. It's great to meet you.
We'll see you in there. And we'll see you in there.
Yeah. For sure.
Have a wonderful evening. We'll be there right with you.
Yes.
Thank you, guys.
Bye. Thank you.
Talk to you tomorrow about what we're wearing.
Yeah. [laughs]
[Elizabeth] [faintly speaking] you might need-
Oh, I might need that. Oh, wow.
What? What?
[Elizabeth laughs] That's awesome.
That works. That's amazing. [laughs]
And right now, the fun keeps going.
We're here with actress, producer and activist,
Sophia Bush.
Okay. She's my friend by the way.
[Rowan laughing]
Hi.
I know she's your real mom,
but she was my mother-in-law in a movie,
[Rowan] and it feels- It's real.
[Rowan] Yeah. It is real.
It feels real. No, it is real.
No, I know. I get it. The best one.
Hi, cuties. Hi, beautiful woman.
You have had such a year, and you keep making the world
a better place and fighting so hard,
and you're stunning and I'm so happy for you.
Thank you.
And we're just so...
Every time I see you, I'm always amazed at your energy.
Oh, stop. Your clarity. No.
And your intelligence.
And it's one of those things,
that I would call home and I'd say,
Oh my god, she's amazing,
and she's so, so unbelievably brilliant
about what you do.
Talk to us just a little bit
about what the last, oh, I don't know,
year, few months, you pick, have been like for you.
[sighs] Listen, I think at the end of the day
our journeys are about evolving, right?
And realizing how to be fully-realized, happy humans,
and hopefully leave the world better than we found it,
and I think that's never more pressing or obvious
than right ahead of an election,
and especially on a night like tonight.
I know we've talked about this for so long.
Our concern is fighting for you all
to have the rights we've had,
and to be here with incredible women
who are working to make the world a better place,
who are attempting to ensure
that you know, [laughs sarcastically] shocker,
51% of the population's treated like people.
Who knew that would be our battle in 2024?
But it's profoundly important,
and I think also so unifying for us,
and I'm thrilled to be here in this community.
And I know you've had this very strong message,
especially now, about voting,
and the importance of it, and I'd love you...
You've been going all over the country,
and you've been speaking this,
and you've been talking about reproductive rights.
What do you want people to do?
The people at home.
What message can you help disseminate,
and keep disseminating?
Well, I think my hope for people is to realize
that on these sorts of issues the math and the morals meet.
To treat women, and anyone who is fighting
for their right to bodily autonomy, as full people,
is both morally important,
but it's also incredibly important for the economy.
Reproductive justice is an economic issue,
and if women are allowed to fully participate
in their dreams, their life planning,
their collegiate educations,
whether they want to have kids, how many kids,
when they want to have kids, if they want them at all,
all of this, it not only matters for our lives
and our own pursuit of life, liberty and freedom
per the Constitution,
but it really matters for the economy.
And if 50% of the population is not able
to participate in the economy,
we slowly suffocate the country.
And when you consider that women
are the largest creators of small businesses in America,
that we are often heads of household in terms of finances,
the math and the morals meet here, folks,
and it's so incredibly important
that we, I think, wake up and stand up for each other.
And I think that's so important.
I recently had to go to D.C.
and talking about something different,
but it was amazing to me
how the economic piece was not something
that was primary.
And I kept saying, Look, this isn't just
touchy-feely feelings, like 'Kumbaya.'
This is an economic benefit,
to communities, to the culture too.
And that's a message that they will hear.
Yes.
Because I think, listen, people can have different opinions.
You can have different feelings about social issues.
Feelings are not facts.
Medical science, it turns out, is based in fact.
But the economy is hard to argue,
because math is math, no matter how you feel about it.
And I think, to create a really healthy economy,
to create a really healthy America, a new way forward,
as we're discussing on the Harris campaign,
it's really important that we tie these issues
of, as you said, emotion and fact, together,
and we have rational conversation based in truth.
Well, that is something that we need to keep talking about
and we are gonna do everything in our power,
because you are absolutely,
to move this forward.
From my generation, I'm saying thank you
for helping be our voice, and especially right now
more than ever, and everybody, please make sure to go out
get registered and vote, vote, vote.
It is so important,
especially for Gen-Zers, everybody.
Now is the time to vote.
Use your voice, because it really does matter.
Thank you, Sophia, for being here today.

I love you. I love you more.
Oh, thanks. I'm so happy to see you.

It's perfect. I'll see you in there.
[Sophia] Mwah. We'll see you in there.
Oh. Okay.
Oh, yeah. You keep talking.

We are here, that's live television,
with the Grammy's Best New Artist of 2024,
Victoria Monet.
[Brooke] Hello, Victoria. Look at you. Oh.
Look at you.
That is amazing.
Oh my god. Hi.
[Victoria] You look beautiful.
[Rowan] You look beautiful.
You look absolutely stunning.
This is just...
Everything. Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Look at you. Gosh.
Show everybody in Times Square. Come on.
Wow. Yeah.
At Jumbotron. Thank you so much.
Victoria, thank you for being here tonight.
Thank you, guys.
Who are some women in your life that have inspired you?
Oh my god. My mom. Yeah.
She's here in the City tonight, and my daughter,
so I feel like it is so lovely
to see you two hosting this together.
Because it's future goals.
My daughter's only three, so I've got a while to go,
but definitely my- She's a slacker.
Yeah, I know. What is she thinking? [laughs]
Yeah, so I would have to say my mom,
and so it's really nice to see the honorees
and the presenters tonight be mother-daughter duos.
Just, I love it so much.
How are you feeling tonight?
It's so amazing to be in a room
with all of these amazing women.
How do you feel, and what does this mean to you?
You know what?
Any event that we're able to honor women,
I'm so down for it, I'm so here for it.
I think there was ages where we felt unseen,
and it was a thankless job to be a woman and a mother,
so I'm happy to be here tonight, alongside everybody,
to clap for all the women involved tonight.
Well, I'm sure your mom is an inspiration to you
and you are an inspiration to your baby girl,
a three year old.
That's so wonderful. They grow up so fast.
They do that.
And yeah, the nights are long, the years are short,
is what I will say.
And I have to ask, as a superfan,
do you have anything fun potentially coming out?
For your fans. Do you know what?
I did just drop a deluxe of my Jaguar II.
It just came out last Friday. Yes. Oh.
So there is new music to be heard,
if you haven't heard it or seen it.
It's out now, and available everywhere, so...
Okay. Well, available everywhere.
Everywhere, it's available. Everywhere.
Okay, well we'll celebrate you more inside.
Have fun tonight.
Thank you so much, you guys. You look so beautiful.
You look beautiful. Thank you for having me.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you, thank you.
Okay, now we get to hear from Glamour Woman of the Year,
Sydney Sweeney.
Sadly, Sydney couldn't be here tonight,
but she sent this message.
Thank you, Brooke and Rowan.
I really wish I could be there tonight,
and I'm so sad I'm not there in person
with all of you, but I'm very thankful to Glamour
for being awarded amongst such an amazing group of women
and I hope you all have an incredible evening.
Thank you, Sydney, and- She said your name.
Yeah, I know. Oh my god.
I'm gonna get one of those scanned...
Things. Tattoos.
And we will make sure that you and Tank get your trophy.
Thank you so much, and congratulations, Sydney.
Tank has to meet our Tuzi, just to let you know.
Oh. Hi, beautiful.
Okay?
Yeah, they're pretty special, those little fur balls.
But thank you so much, Sydney, and congratulations.
We are sending you love,
and we are so happy to be here.
Have you had fun tonight? Yeah.
Listen, this is...
Thank you, I needed a vibe check.
This has been so much fun for me.
I'm just so honored to be in a room
with all of these amazing women, hearing stories.
People are here for a reason,
because every single person has a unique story
and a rich history
and talking to them is something
that I will remember forever.
Well, I hope you also remember
that it's a real night too for moms and daughters,
I just want you to remember that,
and this year, Glamour is gonna honor
an entire group of moms who gave their kids
such incredible self-confidence to soar.
We are talking Beyonce, Solange Knowles,
and Kelly Rowland,
Selena Gomez, Billy Eilish and Finneas,
and Travis and Jason Kelce.
So, take a look.
[upbeat electronic music]
Woman of the Year, I would think that
it would be someone who is a powerful advocate
for other women.
Someone that is kind.
Someone that is inclusive.
Someone who has done something to better the world
and change the way we think about the world.
Women who can do it all and take a lot of pride in it.
I mean, I think that tonight
has been such an incredible night.
What has been some of your favorite moments from tonight,
beside being with your mother?
[laughs] I think just being in this room
and looking at these women
in their eyes and asking questions,
and talking about things that are important,
such as reproductive rights, and following-
Voting. And voting.
Confidence. And confidence. [laughs]
And learning from those above us, and from those below us,
and that every generation is as important
as the next, as the generation above them,
and I will say this again,
now more than ever, it is important for us as women
to just use our voice, because it's necessary,
and it really does matter.
Everyone's voice matters.
And also, I think that there's something
very much to be said tonight about community.
We've watched all these incredible women,
moms, daughters, friends, siblings.
We saw all these women
and they've all talked about their community,
their support group.
They've talked about people
that have made their lives doable,
and how they gain support
and how they lean on those people.
And we're not meant to do this alone.
We're not meant to do anything alone.
So, I think that it's been a great lesson.
I'm so happy to be able to share it
with my daughter,
and right now, we get to invite our friend back,
Sam Berry.
♪ Sam Berry ♪
Who is why we are here tonight.
You guys are doing an amazing job.
Also, I had a look outside Times Square.
It looks so good on the Jumbotron. It's so good.
Yeah. ♪ Jumbotron ♪
We all look very good on the Jumbotron.
Very good on the Jumbotron.
So, what messages do you want to share with women around,
let's do the world, tonight?
Oh my god.
Well, do you know what?
I think there was just such moments of joy.
I was watching from the end of the red carpet,
and I just loved all of the family moments.
I loved the Mom of the Year from Glamour,
Lynda Limon and her daughter Dupree,
who were at the start of the red carpet with you.
I loved Maggie with Billie and Finneas.
I was like, Oh my god.
The beautiful moment.
I think there was just a lot of love on the carpet tonight.
Who was your favorite people? Who did you love?
Who were you talking to?
Meeting Billie Eilish and just seeing
the connection she had with her mother,
and watching her mother- Tear up.
Get emotional, talking about her experience
with her mother, I think that just speaks volumes
on why we're here tonight
and why you host this amazing thing the way you do
and have us all here, and that was-
And Billie Eilish said my hair looked good tonight.
[Rowan] It does. So I can die happy.
[Rowan] Yeah. I was like,
Billie Eilish said my hair looks good.
So I was like, Yes, I'm ready here.
Okay, well don't leave too soon, okay?
Because we need some more,
but I think that's a perfect way to end,
and I just want to say thank you for having us,
for asking us to do this together.
This was a highlight for me in my life,
and we just wanna thank all the change makers
who joined us tonight.
Okay, so, well, we might not go just yet,
because here's what we know.
There's a lot of people tuning in,
and I wanna to give them a little sense
of what's happening upstairs,
because what we do have is we've got performers.
We've got Kelsea Ballerini, who you guys talked to.
[Rowan] We did. What did she have to say?
[Rowan] Oh, she has a new album coming out
and she's very excited.
Lots of new music, and she just once again
emphasized on being in a room
and performing for all of these badass women.
We had a lot of singers on the carpet as well tonight.
Yeah.
A lot of stars.
And I think what you also saw,
the athletes really stood out for me.
I know we talked about this earlier,
but there's something about this Olympic year that,
in general we love athletes.
We had Ellie the Elephant,
which was, I think, a big surprise for a lot of people,
and there was something about having Suni Lee
and Allyson on that carpet that just,
I don't think I'm an Olympian,
but part of me, when I watch the Olympics,
thinks that I could do it.
I think we all have some Olympic tendencies
just in being women,
not to take anything away
from the extraordinary athletes, obviously,
but we all have to get in touch
with our confidence and our endurance,
and we need to keep fighting and keep growing.
And you've taught me that,
and you've taught a lot of people that,
and you provide a beautiful evening
for so many different, beautiful women, so thank you.
Thank you so much.
Okay, now that is very worthy and brilliant,
but who was your favorite look of the night?
[Rowan] Tell me everything. Oh.
[Brooke] I'm gonna go with Ellie.
[Rowan laughing] Ellie? Ellie in the costume?
I loved Victorian Monet's dress.
That dress was insane.
I wanna say Hunger Games-esque.
It was very covered, but also not too covered. Regal.
We had the gold brooches, so everything was amazing.
And then of course, look at you two.
I mean, you. Sorry, you. Of course. Yes.
You walked right in and I was...
I heard a rumor that you guys
are doing a costume change for the party.
It's not a rumor. It's true.
It's not true, and I've sweat through
this poor sequin dress for a long time,
and I'm gonna change it.
The sequins are wilting.
Yes. [Rowan laughing]
What an amazing night, Sam.
Thank you so much for giving us, and giving me,
this opportunity, and inviting her back. [laughs]
It's been amazing.
Thank you. Bye, everybody.
Goodbye, everyone. Thank you.
